Pre-orders for The Miracle Child: Traumatic Brain Injury and Me are now available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble! Pre-orders are crucial to the success of any book. For an author, pre-orders can alert retailers and consumers that they should pay attention to a book. From the bookseller's perspective, the pre-order quantity is a good early indicator of a book’s success and can lead to retailers increasing their initial orders. Pre-orders can have a ripple effect in the broader publishing industry, and a pre-publication buzz campaign in support of pre-orders can build anticipation for a book launch.
During the early days of the pediatric intensive care unit stay, Mike and I asked if there were other parents we could speak to who had gone through this experience and no one could direct us to anyone. We then looked for books to read about others’ experiences. Again, we never found any. A few years later, when I started telling our story to Emergency Responder Technician Refresher Courses and other groups, I was told repeatedly to write a book because it was such an amazing story. We took it to heart and our writing began but the years have included many stops and starts because, well, life gets in the way sometimes!
We also want to give back to two organizations that have played such a pivotal role in our story so a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Brain Injury Association of Virginia. We hope you will support those organizations and others in your communities.
We would like to thank everyone for all your assistance now and over the past 20 years. As one of Olivia’s doctors recently remarked, “It takes a village.”
