The Mail is Here

Writers never know how readers will interpret their words. We often wonder, will they understand all the thoughts and feelings that I am trying to portray here? Will the reader understand the message of the book? Does the reader look at the issue from another perspective after this book?

These are some of the questions we asked ourselves while writing the book. So much of our heart and soul went in and we hope that is received. We couldn’t include everything and that is alright. It would have been a very long book otherwise. We asked ourselves what the reader would want to hear. When you are narrating your own story it is hard to separate what is important to you versus what the general public will want to know.

As we receive feedback, we are awed by the response. It is interesting how everyone takes a different piece away. Some ask questions about the driver, the courtroom, Kelly’s parents, and other things we didn’t expect. We want to share some of the comments we have received in the form of letters, texts, and reviews.

”The book was touching and a tribute to your strength, resilience and love. Your ability to build on your experience to help others reflects on those qualities.”

Your journey and that you have come through it with love and connectedness still as a family, is also a miracle.  Every ounce of it and all the years since could have shaped you very differently. Instead, you have given back, inspired others, volunteered, loved, and led. “

“…I am NOT a reader, but I couldn’t put this book down. Already finished and it just arrived yesterday!  Touching, honest and empowering. Kelly Lundin Lang congratulations on this labor of love. “

I really think this is something many people could read, in order to see how there is so much more to the patient and family, than what you see in the current time when they are admitted. I think it would build an understanding and empathy that is not always intuitive… It took me a few years to learn that.”

To the many that have taken the time to write their thoughts about the book to others that have called us or chatted with us during events, presentations (and even grocery stores!), thank you. Your words are just as important to us as the words we put into print and give us validation every time we share our story.
